ADAA : Statewide Services

  

Purpose: 
The focus of the Statewide Projects Division is to provide administrative oversight and technical assistance for essential public health and special population services. The Statewide Projects Division is responsible for the following key areas--Health General 8-505-507, pregnant women and women with children services, State Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council and special behavioral health initiatives. Administrative, supervisory and programmatic oversight is provided by a Division Director, 2 Section Chiefs and 7 professional staff for a total of 10 positions.
 
Functions: 

Criminal Justice Section

  • The Criminal Justice Section has the responsibility for the development and coordination of the Administration’s Health General 8-505 and 8-507 legislatively mandated services for the criminal justice population.   This Section collaborates and works cooperatively with a wide variety of programs, agencies and demonstrates tremendous knowledge of resources to enhance the mandated services.

Women Services Section

  • The Women’s Services Section develops and coordinates the Administration’s efforts to provide evidence-based programming for Women and their families; provides technical assistance and training to Local Health Departments and treatment providers. This office collaborates with local and state agencies/organizations to provide comprehensive services for women statewide. Provides case management services for ADAA funded residential services and monitoring for legislatively mandated HB 7; SB512 and House Bill 1160 initiatives.

Maryland State Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council

  • Operationally responsible for coordinating the MD State Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council functions, including the development and update of the strategic plan and federal and state resource  documents , scheduling, agenda development  facilitation of Council and appropriate meetings and  maintaining discussions  with Council Chair and Committee Chair members to  ensure  established goals and objectives are being addressed.

Special Initiatives Section

  • Administratively responsible for the coordination and monitoring of special contracts/memorandum of understandings, etc. for the provision of specific behavioral health services/activities- Problem Gambling, Deaf and Hearing Impaired, DJS, IDEHA (HIV/AIDS), Tobacco Cessation and Residential Services for  Criminal Justice and Pregnant Women and Women with Children. This section develops RFPs and other solicitation documents. Provides technical assistance and participates in resource sharing activities/meetings.
